Reading list The works this deck draws on, in the order worth reading them. Cards point to a specific chapter or paper where one fits.
01 Book Thinking, Fast and Slow · Daniel Kahneman The standard account of the heuristics-and-biases programme by one of its founders. Part 2 (heuristics and biases) and part 4 (choices, including loss aversion and framing) cover most of this deck. 02 Paper Judgment under Uncertainty: Heuristics and Biases · Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman, 1974 The short Science paper that started the field: representativeness, availability, and anchoring in a few pages, with the original demonstrations. 03 Book Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics · Richard Thaler Sunk cost, the endowment effect, and loss aversion as they showed up in markets and in the author's own research, told as a history. 04 Book Noise: A Flaw in Human Judgment · Daniel Kahneman, Olivier Sibony and Cass Sunstein The other half of judgment error: random scatter between judges that bias does not explain, and the decision hygiene that reduces both. 05 Book Risk Savvy · Gerd Gigerenzer The critical counterpoint: heuristics as adaptive tools, natural frequencies for base rates, and a case that the biases programme overstates human irrationality. 06 Book Predictably Irrational · Dan Ariely Readable experiments on anchoring, relativity, and free offers. Some of its findings have not replicated and a later paper he co-authored was retracted, so read it for the questions and check the numbers elsewhere. 07 Book Attacking Faulty Reasoning · T. Edward Damer The reference for the fallacies half of the deck: each fallacy with a definition, examples, and how to answer it in an argument.
