Most of us can summarise the other side well enough to knock it over. The test is whether someone who holds the position would read your version and say yes, that is what I think. Here you write that first, before your own case, on a question where well-informed people genuinely disagree.

Then you say where you stand again. Moving is not the goal and not moving is not a failure. The record simply makes the claim checkable, and counts how often the other side gets the shorter hearing.
